No christmas knitting

Well I have been slacking off this week. I am off from work and school a very rare event. I am working steadily on my Ram's Horn Cardi from Knitting Nature. Did I tell you that Norah herself answered my question about it on Ravelry? How cool is that? For me very cool. I am finished the back and left side. The right side is about 6 inches long and moving fast. It is definetely a bus project with all that SS it gets a bit much.

I did no christmast knitting. I did however create this wonder. It is a bacon chesseburger for our pirate pollyanna. It came with a gift card to wendy's. It was big hit. I crocheted it using my fave wt yarn Red heart Super Saver and to class it up I sewed on little beads for sesame seeds.

School starts on January 7th. This is my last quarter so I am happy and sad. I realize how much time it takes up and I don't know what I will do when I am done. I am taking Academic Libraries and Research collection development. I am hoping these classes will help me find a new job. Did I tell you I am looking for a new job?

Happy new year. I have made two resolutions this year. One be more ecologically friendly. We have been working on this but I want to kick it up a notch and spread the word around. And two to learn some new knitting techniques. I want to master short rows, enterlac, and try a top down raglan. I want to make some color work mittens, and work on a plan to create a christmas stockpile of little presents we shall see. Oh and I am thinking about writing a book. So things should be fun this year.

Merry Christmas and holy crap!

Ok so I am having a good christmas. The boys are off playing with their toys. Charlie is getting some quality time with LOTR online and his new light up keyboard. N8 is rocking out with his new socks and big ole pile of booty including a toy pirate. I got a new camera that says I am ten mega pixels and you don't know how to use me.

So any way for the holy crap part. Mom gave me a knitting a day calendar from Accord Publishing. I was leafing through the patterns getting a sneak peek when lo and behold I flip to August 9-10 and I see my own damn pattern. I submitted a pattern way back in January and did not hear anything. At first I thought that someone made the same thing as me and then I saw my name. I started to cry. I am a huge cornball. I called my mother and she said if I hadn't bought that calendar you wouldn't have seen your first published pattern.

Ok she is right and holy crap my first published pattern. I know I know how nutty.

Marsan Watch Caps

Since I learned how to knit my beloved has asked me to knit him a cap. I put him off for two years. Recently I went to a mitten class and learned how to use dpns. I decided that I would conquer the hat fear and try to make him his watch cap. I found this great pattern on the internet for the Marsan Cap over at redlipstick.net. It's a great pattern. I love the swirlled decreases.
I actually made two caps. I made the first exactly like the pattern. The second cap for my brother is smaller. He likes a shorter hat with a thinner brim. He likes to think he is Mel from Alice. Nice knit. I used RHSS in black so the men could stink them up and then wash them. Tonight it snowed in Philadelphia. The hat made a maiden voyage and was deemed Ok. That my friends is a high compliment from a man of very few words.
Doesn't J.R. look stunning?
