Yeah we slow hands *

Two super quick FO's. Gosh I really love my Sugar N Cream. The first is a desk mat I made for my co-worker. She eats her lunch at her desk when the weather is naughty (like today). The books in the library are so dirty, especially the donations so this is to keep her lunch and the books nice and fresh!

I made a stockinette block and added bands on all the edges. I blocked it to flair out the sides. Her favorite color is purple (the color is called Jewel). I actually made it as demo for an idea I am cooking for a organic cotton lunch bag and mat.

The second is a dischloth I made for Larissa over at Stitch marker. She is working on an art project. This cloth is made with cream Sugar N Cream. It uses my old friend the Little Shells pattern. Remember Amelia's secret pocket scarf?

Little Shells is my new favorite stitch when my beloved garter stitch lace is out of town. Sorry Trinity stitch. I had to break up with you after that unfortunate incident with the trinity stitch neckerchief. It's not you it's me. I just should have known that cotton yarn + bamboo needles + trinity stitch + road trip to Raritian Valley NJ would equal heart break.

Oh no! Garter Stitch Lace your here! You are my favorite thing kinda like Interpol this week!

Oh Ram' s Horn Jacket you are a real bitch.

Ok I had high hopes for you. You are so lovely in the book. (But why are you wearing bikini on the beach?) I made you exactly as written and re written with many extensive erratas. I scoured ravelry for help with your insidious but cute collar (and found it!) I ordered more yarn and squealed when the dye lots matched. I blocked and blocked your for three straight days, on the bed and on the table. You were so nice and smooth with great expanses of stockinette. Why do you do these things to me when I love you so much? Your a fickle and ever growing bitch.

My god how big can you get? The sleeves are freaking huge. They look like kimono sleeves and they are about six inches too long! Crap I probably didn't even need the extra yarn.

I seamed the beast and tried it on. Holy crap the thing is huge. This is just like the Oragami Cardi. So now I need to rip back the sleeves and reknit the hem. Oh to make matters worse the collar is about six inches too short! This thing is a big ole beast. I love Norah for making real sized patterns, but apparently I can't knit them. This beast goes into the closet for Sunday work only.

That means I don't love your any more Ram's Horn Jacket.

Mystery Purple Yarn Scarf

Mystery Yarn Before:

I got this neato yarn for my birthday. After puzzling over how to unravel this skein I finally put my sister to the task of unraveling it. We thought the yarn was many strands loosely plyed. We were suprised to find it was one long thread with the yarns being tied onto each other at random intervals. It had thin mohair, novelty yarns, threads and a nifty thick and thin bobble yarn. I saved that nugget for a wristband it was so nice.

So first I tried to knit it as is. It had a multiple color eyelash band right in the middle of two thin sections which looked too novelty for me. I decided to cut out the novelty and ribbon sections and use them for decoration and the fringe. I knit the thinner yarns into a garter stitch lace and wove the ribbon into the holes. I used the novelty yarn for the fringe. Overall it was fun to figure out and decide how to best showcase the yarn. It turned out to be a fun fashion scarf.

Secret Decoder Ring Knitters!

Oh I am in! Psssst I think this is awesome! Is it weird that this is almost as exciting to me as getting into grad school?
