I know I usually call them bitches.

Let's start this post by saying this turned out better than I thought it would. I am talking about both the shawl and the posting. Every time I post I get so frustrated with blogger and how the images show up. I write up my post and add the images. They end up at the top instead of the bottom with all this extra spacing. It is annoying and I always say I will do something about it and I don't. This time I added the photos first. So far so good. I guess I need to figure out something more long term.

I finished my shetland triangle and love it! I used Paton's Lacette which is an acrylic and mohair blend. I had my doubts about the blocking but it seems to turn out lovely. Before blocking the shawl had a puckered look and now it is fuzzy and flat oh boy! So I used one and one third balls of yarn which brings my grand total for the shawl to 1.50! Hurray for dollar store yarn. The only thing it is hit or miss on the quality and colors. I was lucky I guess. So to sum it up I know that i usually call my big projects bitches but this one was easy. I expect double trouble on the next one! I have no idea whath the big project will be yet. I have some ideas but nothing is screaming at me. So for now I am going to do some preemptive knitting for my earth day swap on Ravelry.

Sister and I have decided to take the kids to Disney (yes I said it) for Jazzy's 6th birthday. We booked a trip for Novemeber so I am on a self imposed stash only knitting diet. I did score a sweaters worth of yellow worsted yarn from mom and have some good stuff in the mix so it really isn't a punishment. I have no intention of telling the boss that though. Let him think I am sacrificing for the sake of the kids!

Shetland Lace Triangle I was wrong you were not destined to be the new Big Ivy. You are lovely and thrifty!

Spliting necks and calling it dichotomy

Oh boy things have been crazy at work. Let us just say that the economic downturn has been just as bad for non-profits. This is not a how crappy is work blog so enough of that. I have plenty of things to be grateful. I am totally in love with Los Campesinos hence the title of this post and have found Craftsanity podcast.

I finished my Lapland Mittens. I actually washed and blocked them and they look awesome. Can I just say that Cascade 220 is such a nice reliable yarn. It is easy to knit and blocks so nicely and it lasts forever!
I also got some wonderful handspun yarn in the mail this week. I won two awesome skeins of yarn from the NaKniMitMo group on Ravelry. I am so stoked. This is my first handspun. The color is an muted varigated plum and pink. I got two skeins of worsted weight about 220 yards, enough for something great. Right now I just fondle it.

Shetland Triangle are you the new Big Ivy? I did six repeats and got hopelessly messed up. I tried to frog back and got so twisted I had to scrap and redo. On sunday I restarted and have done 4 repeats so far. I need to realize that I need to pay attention to lace!

A woodpecker and a single mit

I have been on a mitten kick. I finished most of a pair of Lapland Mittens from Folk Mittens. Things have been very stressful at work so I have been knitting like crazy. I had two days off from work last week so I blasted through one mitten and picked up the Leftover Vest as well. I have the left front and the armhole and neck edging to finished. Oh yeah and about six hundred ends to weave it. Stripes oh what a great idea in theory.

I also went through my stash and pulled out all the project worthy yarns I have and assigned them to projects. Now I feel like I have a plan to work with and won't go and buy random yarns or use my good yarns on crappy projects. I have less yarn than I thought but enough to do a few good projects. I have enough to do a Hey Teach, a Shetland Triangle and a three quarter length cropped cardi and a pair of mittens so I am in good shape for a few months. I have also been thinking about doing a ribbed striped scarf using up my RHSS scraps. I think N8 would like something like that. I also have 900 yards of merino laceweight and two balls of Lornas Laces that I am currently hording.

Today the boss saw a red headed woodpecker in the tree and was able to get a snap of it. Pretty good photo from so far away.
