Sister Scarves

I mean really isn’t my sister and I worth at least two dollars? I got some great Moda Dea Vixen yarn at Michaels in the clearance bin. I got two skeins of Licorice and The Fuchsia. I did a simple 16 stitch garter scarf of the black for myself and the fuchsia for my sister. Here is my scarf it measures well it is long.

I also ordered some great Aran and Gansey knit books. I am hoping to find some neat cable combos to use the Aran yarn mom brought back from Ireland. I am totally in love with Knitting Nature by Norah Gaughan! I have been carrying that book around for days. I know that have a KAL so as soon as I am done this quarter I need to make something from the book. I cast on for the front of the purple aran vest. I got 11 inches done this week and am hoping to finish the left panel today. I decided to invest in some snazzy celtic pewter buttons for the front. I am loving these celtic horses but may change at some point. I have to say this. My interest in these buttons has revived an interest of Charlies to dress up and go to the Renaissance Faire. Oh God! Dude I really don't think so. Sometimes one has to have a hobby alone, this one is for you my friend.

On a side note check out this contest. You take a classic book and design a knit for it. How fun is that?

Replacement scarf and headband

Remember the Irish Yarn scarves that I made for Jazzy and myself? Well tragedy ensued and she lost her scarf in Wal-Mart. She cried and we tried to find the yarn on the internet with no luck. I guess what happens in Ireland stays in Ireland. So we went for a girl’s lunch and a trip to the yarn store! She picked out a fabulous new yarn. I used 2 skeins of Paton’s Twister in Fruit Loops and my handy size 11 bamboos. It is a twisted yarn of one strand of hot pink colored chenille and one strand of a variegated eyelash. The scarf and headband is just knit stitch. The set both took about 3 hours. She likes to wear the scarf as a belt and say look at my pretty belt.

We had enough left over to make a leash and collar for Princess. Nate took one look at it and said "That's hot" That boy has his finger on the pulse of pop culture for sure.

Oh and I got these bad boys! The Needlemaster, that is the needle set and a perfect way to describe me. I just got tired of rigging up my too big circulars to knit smaller things. http://www.wrights.com/products/catalog/boyeline/knitmates_accs.htm I am testing them on a new scarf for myself to match my new winter coat.

So far so good. I didn't have any issues with them twisting off but I am paranoid and twist them up each time I take them out of the bag.

Girlfriend Shrug for my best friend

Finished the Girlfriend Shrug from the Knit and Tonic Blog. I made the shrug for my best friend Jazzy who needed something to cover her arms during tap class. I used one skein of Bernat Softee Baby Yarn in a very girlie ombre called In Her Jeans. It is a nice variation of baby tones of blue, purple, yellow and green.

I did see some pooling in the pinks but hey she is three and she won’t care. It was a super easy quick knit on size four needles. One week of bus knitting and some Sunday finishing a quick yet satisfying knit for the beginning of a quarter. Thinking matching legwarmers!
