Leftovers - Almost like recycling

So here is the neglected and unloved Leftovers Vest from Knitty. I made this from all the scraps of RHSS that I had in my suitcase. I started it in a fit of being frugal and getting rid of stuff before buying new yarn. I worked on it like crazy and then fizzled out in October. It sat and stewed until last month. I realized I only needed to do the front v neck and the arm and neck bands. Oh and weaving in about six trillion ends. The end result was an ok vest that makes me look frugal to the boss and that is all that matters. I have two secrets to acquiring new yarn guilt free.

First I piggy back new yarn on a pre approved boss project. For example I decided to make a baby blanket for our neighbor. Cha Ching. Yarn for the project and for me! Second I score some free yarn. Free yarn means saving money. If you run out you have to get more to finish and a little something more. These two techniques work better than the hissy fit plan which never, ever works.

N8's sweater vest is done. I finished blocking it on Sunday. I started on Saturday but it was wet and damp in Philadelphia that day. Man does wool smell nasty when it is wet. It looks so very sweet. I am so thrilled by how good it looks. I tried a new way of picking up stitches and they look flawless I must say. Overall the knit was fun and I learned how to do a v neck. Check out some photos.

On the mitten front I finished my first pair of adult sized mittens. They were huge but as we all know blocking is magic. The turned out pretty cool. I gave them to my Lolly who from what I heard from his mom was wearing them around the house on Sunday. Oh Lolly you are such a freak. Photos for the next post I promise.

I have started the Marsan Watchcap for my beloved. He nagged and nagged so now he will be forced to be the owner of my first misshappened hat. Enjoy! Seriously the hat is nice and I am sure it will look fine. *That's what my boys the Fratellis say!

Oh I am loving this sweater

I just noticed this sweater on craftster last night and it is wonderful! Now I see it everywhere. It was spotlighted on whipup.net. I am thinking this may be the next big project after N8's metrosexual cabled vest. What vest you ask? Stay tuned I can't talk about it now. I get teary eyed thinking about my baby wearing man vest!

Sweater, sweater how I wish I didn't have to write a paper on open source ILS's and I could cast you on. Love it, love it more in wine!
