The Ashley Scarf (A Knit and Crochet pattern)

Materials
2 skeins of KnitPicks Essentials or number 1 fingering
Size 5 needles
F size crochet hook

This pattern is a knitted trinity stitch or bramble stitch scarf bordered by a three row crochet ruffle. I used one entire skein for the scarf binding off when I was near the end. I used nearly the entire second skein for the border. I created this pattern from my co-worker Ashley hence the name. Enjoy!

Scarf
Cast on 40 stitches.
Row 1 Purl
Row 2 (K P K) in the same stitch. P3tog repeat across
Row 3 Purl
Row 4 P3tog (K P K) repeat across

Continue until desired length or end of skein. Bind off in a purl row

Border
Row 1 Single Crochet around the entire scarf
Row 2 3 Dc ch 1 repeat to end
Row 3 (always in the chain space) 2 sc, 2 dc, 2 sc repeat to end

This should create a ruffle. Note that row three has no chains. Your border will look like this:

Irish goodness

That's my mom filled with Irish goodness. Mom just came back from a visit to Ireland with her sister and brother. She brought me some Awesome (appropiate use of the word) yarn from Ireland. Ok so they call it wool there. I love the stuff she brought me and was itching (no pun) to get knitting with this stuff. How where to start. Ok first up 400 yards of aran goodness. I was thinking cables and this big ball said cable me up cable me down! It is a cream color wool with a ply of tan polyamide wrapped. Love it. Nate also got a new jeff hat that makes him look more manly (especially with his new longer side burns he wants to grow mutton chops)

Next I got six skeins of a wool, acrylic and polyamide blend with all kinds of fuzzy inlcusions. The green is to die for and will be my new skinny scarf. I found a stitch called Purl Ridges from Lion that is supposed to be stockinette without the curl so I am working that up right now.

All the yarn or wool is from Tivoli Spinners. Thanks mom!

Terrible News, Terrible News.

I named this post terrible news because I just watched and I love every year The Nightmare Before Christmas. The mayor drives through town and yells Terrible News, Terrible News when Jack is shot down. I like to yell it and C. will say what is so terrible? Nutty hijinks for sure!

Well I do have terrible news this time. In the sugar induced frenzy brought on by the ingesting of a huge slice of purple Princess Jasmine birthday cake I formatted instead of finalizing my disc in the camera and fried all the pictures. Since I am completely lazy and hardly ever download them I lost pictures from Halloween, Jazzy's birthday party, my new stash suitcase, Ashley's completed scarf, Amelia's first crochet project (Love it and her!) and most tragically the crocheted Boston crème donut for my bro's birthday. Terrible News indeed. I will have to find something else to show but damn that donut was crazy. It even had the little blob of yellow Boston crème hanging out the back. He has requested earmuffs and I am not adverse to that idea.

On the school front things are coming to an end for the fall semester. Two projects due by 12-10 but that is it. I may survive. Off today for a personal day. I can’t talk about it it’s personal. Ok, Jazzy and I are having a birthday lunch at Friendly’s. We take the boys out to dinner on their as Alex calls it “the real birthday” but since she is only three she gets a lunch.

Oh yeah one more thing. Go Vote!
